This is an autumn classic that all Danish children love. You can make spiders with eight legs or stars with five.
You need a big chestnut,
matches or toothpicks
yarn, ribbon or string
an awl, a nail or a screwdriver to make holes and a pair of scissors.
Drill holes in the chestnut. You need 8 equally spaced holes for chestnut spider and five equally spaced holes for a star.
Put matches or toothpick into the holes.
Tie yarn or string to one the matches.
Now you are ready to make a spider's net by wraping the string around each match before proceeding to the next.
Change the color along the way if you like.
When finished, tie a knot.
